The Little Prince - written by Antoine De Saint-Exupery, translated by Irene Testot-Ferry - further translation by John Peña / 2004
For
twenty-four hour art marathon, I stayed awake and rewrote the book, The Little Prince, onto a single sheet
of paper. With a manual typewriter, I typed throughout the night and watched
as this sheet of paper became an illegible black mass. The images above document
the process.
This project was part of a larger event sponsored by Gallery One of Ellensburg
Washington. Roughly twenty other local artists took place in this 24-hour
“create-a-thon.” There were pizza, dancing, and drinks and the
audience was invited to observe twenty artists on display as they made art
throughout the night. The art was later auctioned off to support Gallery One
during an annual event known as Paint Ellensburg.
